Class Assignment

Question

Hello! My name is Sarah and I have a class assignment to interview those from a Jewish background and was wondering if you could answer some questions!

First, are you Messianic Jewish?

1. What does it mean to be Jewish?

2. What is your view of who God is?

3. What is the most impactful aspect of your faith tradition to you?

Thank you so much!

  1. One of the foundations of Jewish theology is the belief in the Messiah, and that God will send the Messiah at the right time. If that is what you mean when you ask if I am a Messianic Jew, the answer is yes, I am. As are all believing Jews. However, I that the term “Messianic Jew” is usually meant to refer to a Christian or Jew who believes in Jesus as Messiah…

    1. Judaism is hard to define. On the one hand, a Jew is defined as one born to a Jewish mother, but there are many races within that definition, all having common ancestry. Also, the fact that one can become Jewish through conversion, no matter what race they are from, shows that it is not racial. Probably, it would be more correct to define us as a nation.

    2. God created the world and God sustains the world. God is intimately involved in every detail of our lives. God is Omnipotent. God is loving and God is good.

    3. Judaism impacts every single facet of our lives. There is not one aspect for which Judaism is not relevant and applicable. But, perhaps for me, the most significant thing is the responsibility that each person has to live up to his or her spiritual potential.

I wish you every success in your class assignment.
