“Surviving” as the Only Jew in Town

Question

Do you have any advice for survival as being the only Jew in town? I am trying to do Hanukkah without being an outcast among my neighbors.

  1. It is very hard to know exactly what to tell you without being familiar with the details of where you live and why you feel that you will be ostracized for celebrating Chanukah. But, if you are truly concerned, you can light your Menorah indoors in a place that your neighbors will not see it. In this way you can commemorate the incredible story of Chanukah without being concerned.

As well as that I would suggest that you contact the closest Chabad to you to see if they can help you with trying to survive as the “only Jew in town.”
