Idolatry Question

Question

I have noticed, that many Christians will say a prayer over food when one is a guest in their home. I am wondering if this counts as food offered to idols? What would be the best way, to deal with this conundrum?

  1. Without getting involved in the logistics of eating food prepared and cooked by non-Jews in a non-Jewish home, if what they are saying is something along the lines of, “For what we are about to receive we are truly thankful” then there is no issue. If, however, they mention their deity it is a problem and the food should not be eaten.
