Changing Silverware from Fleishig to Milchig

Question

my daughter has some extra fleishig silverware that she would like to make milchig. i understand there is a lot of discussion about this in the achronim. is there any room to be lenient?

  1. Although it is not something that is recommended, there is room to be lenient, but certain conditions need to be applicable to make it possible.

    If twelve months have gone by since they were last used, there are some authorities who permit Kashering and then using them for something other than their previously use. However, the accepted Ashkenazic custom is to wait for Erev Pesach before changing the designation of utensils even if it is after twelve months.
