Ark Not Facing Jerusalem

Question

Is a synagogue whose seats do not face the direction of Jerusalem when facing the ark a kosher place to pray? Many people in the community I am in don’t think so.

    Whilst it is definitely correct to have the Ark placed so that the community faces Jerusalem when they pray, there is no problem with praying in a Synagogue where the Ark is facing another direction. There is also no obligation for the Ark to be moved so that it does face Jerusalem.
