    Drinking in moderation is not a sinful act (unless one is a recovering alcoholic or a diabetic). Smoking is a pastime that no one should partake in. It is both a cause of early deaths for smokers and also for those who do not smoke but have the misfortune of being around those that do. There is no sin in being poor and there is no shame in having to be supported, whether by the government or by those who have been blessed with material wealth.
