Repeating a Mitzvah

Question

In what situation can you do a mitzva and then something happens and you have to do the mitzva again in a few weeks and the first one doesn’t even count?

  1. I can think of a few possibilities:

    1. A Brit Milah was done and afterwards it transpires that the Mohel was not Jewish (unfortunately, this has happened in the past) and the Brit Milah was invalid.

    2. One of the witnesses at a wedding was found to be Halachically unacceptable, which invalidates the entire wedding.

    3. In Temple times, if Purim was celebrated and then the Sanhedrin declared a second month of Adar – and Purim had to be repeated again in its entirety.
