Learning More About Judaism

Question

I am not Jewish but wish to learn more about Judaism and to worship on the Sabbath. Perhaps, I am a seeker and very interested in learning more. Would you point me to appropriate and accepted resources or places where I might continue this journey?

  1. I think that the simplest thing to do is to find the phone number of a local Orthodox Rabbi and to make contact. Explain to him that you are not Jewish but that you have a tremendous desire to learn more about Judaism. As well as that I would recommend that you try a wonderful book called Gateway to Judaism by Rabbi Mordechai Becher, published by ArtScroll. It is a fascinating and very easy to read “mini-encyclopedia” (not just about the Sabbath). It is written in an informative and humorous style and it covers the spectrum of Judaism, both the practical side and the philosophical/theological side.
