Why is unity for Jews so important?

  1. Because unity is the most direct and effective method of bringing about the Messianic Era. As the Jewish Nation stood before Har Sinai, they did so “k’ish echad b’lev echad – as one person with one heart.” The very essence of their being was bound up in the unity and totality that is God. We aspire to reach the same level which the Jewish People were at then, when they had a direct prophecy from God, because that level of “k’Ish Echad b’Lev Echad” is the ultimate moment in Jewish history. This is what we are striving for.
