Eating Meat on Purim

Question

Is it really a mitzvah to eat meat on Purim? Is one who fails to eat meat on Purim missing out on a mitzvah? I am wondering because I am a vegetarian.

  1. There is no Mitzvah for a vegetarian to eat meat on Purim. In genera, Chazal teach that meat and wine enhance one’s simcha but that is only so for those who enjoy eating meat.
