Double Harvest Before Sabbatical Year

Question

The Torah says that we don’t have to worry about the shmitta year because G-d will provide a double harvest in the 6th year. I would like to know when in history did the blessing stop ?

    The blessing was not unconditional – the Jewish People had to keep the Shmittah year in order to merit the blessing of plenty in the sixth year. At what point in history was the blessing no longer applicable? I am not sure because there were presumably some cycles where the Jewish People were more careful and kept the Shmittah in its entirety and there was plenty of produce in the sixth year to carry everyone until the eighth year’s crop. In the same way, there were cycles when Shimttah was not kept properly and there was not enough produce.
