Deuteronomy 23:3-Moabite Convert

Question

Deuteronomy 23:3 states that a Moabite was not to enter the congregation of the Lord until the 10th generation. How was King David allowed to enter and King Solomon allowed to build the Temple when they were only 3 and 4 generations from the Moabite Ruth? This has puzzled me.

    The Sages of the Babylonian Talmud ask the same question! In Tractate Yevamot, 76b, the Sages explain that the sins of the Moabites are
    accredited only to the males and not the females. That is why female converts, such as Ruth, are accepted into the Jewish Religion.
