  1. The word Mashiach in Hebrew means ‘anointed’. The meaning behind the word is that the Mashiach will be a direct descendent of King David and he will be a king. The English word Messiah comes from the Latin derivative meaning anointed. However, the Rabbis teach that the word Mashiach is also closely related to the word “moshiah” in Hebrew which means “redeemer”. The connection is absolutely clear as the Mashiach will be the redeemer of the Jewish Nation.
