Brushing Teeth Before Davening

Question

Shalom aleichem Rabbi Lauffer. Thank you for answering my last question. Would it be permitted to brush one’s teeth with toothpaste after sunrise but before davening shacharis? Thanks.

  1. I assume that you are asking because of the Halacha that one should not eat before davening. Toothpaste is not considered to be a food and there is no problem with brushing your teeth before you daven in the morning. In truth, because of the Mitzvah of “V’Ahavatah LeRe’ehca Kamochah, I actually think that it might be obligatory!
