I would like to know what Rabbi Becher opinion is of Rabbi Slifkins books.Does he believe that the approach that Rabbi Slifkin takes in his books are within Orthodoxy.Also I learn that one of the reason why we stay up all night on Shavuos is because the Jews overslept and had tto be wokern up to receive the Torah.What does that really mean?How is it possible that the Jews overslept when it was time to receive the Torah.

Shalom. This is my first time using this web site. My question has to do with marriage. I am an American citizen and I met an Israeli woman when I went on vacation in Israel. We have fallen in love. She was born in Israel, but she is of a christian faith. I am also of a christian faith. If I wanted to marry her and move her here to the United States, what are the requirements for marrying her? Do I have to marry her here in the US or can I marry her there in Israel. If I marry her, can she become a US citizen without any problems? Hopefully you can answer my question. Dear Rabbi, This may be an unanswerable question but it is a serious one. Why have Jewish boys always insisted on insulting and interrupting me in school and at public social gatherings ? Now so it is possible for you to understand, I was not raised by parents, but my father was born with the family name of Solomon and my mother was the daughter of a woman born Jewish and abandoned and raised by a Christian family. My name is not recognized as Jewish and was changed by the government when I was 3. I am very intelligent and some have bluntly said that they hated me for that. The assaults have been very serious at times resulting in broken bones from people I had not talked to, looked at or ever seen before. More usually just insults and shoving. Some grab at food on my plate and push. I did not know the people commiting the offenses , at least the first time they did it, when at school or work.
