Why do Jews wear tefilin?

3 months

  1. The Torah states, Exodus 13:16 and Deuteronomy 6:8: “And it shall be as sign upon your arm, and an ornament between your eyes…” Tefillin are black leather boxes that contain four paragraphs from the Torah written on parchment.

To gain a fuller understanding of what Tefillin mean, I suggest that you read a book by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan called Tefillin. It should be available at amazon.com.
