Tabernacle in the Wilderness

Question

I have always wondered where the necessary elements for the tabernacle came from during the wilderness period: the fine flour for the showbread, the fine oil for the lamps and the ingredients for the holy incense. If G-d need to provide manna and quail for His people to feed them, where did these other items for worship come from?

  1. It’s a fascinating question. The Rabbis explain that throughout their journey through the desert, the Jewish people were never very far from civilization as they traveled near the edges of the desert. This means that they normally had access to everything that they required in order to perform the worship in the Tabernacle.
