Sleeping in Clothes

Question

I heard that you can’t wear clothes that you slept in overnight. Is there any basis for this and if so, where does it come from?

  1. There is no Halachic prohibition against sleeping in one’s clothes. There is an accepted custom to change clothing in the morning so that the blessing of “Malbish Arumim” can be recited, as there are some authorities who rule that it might be forbidden to recite this Bracha if one didn’t actually get dressed. There is also an accepted custom not to sleep with one’s shoes on (unless there is a very pressing reason to do so).

Even if one did not change their clothing, there is not Halachic problem with davening in them, so long as they are clean.
