Reciting Yizkor Late

Question

Shalom. Due to an emergency, I missed the opportunity to say Yizkor for my father in synagogue yesterday. Can I say it at home now? Or is there something else I can do? Others did say it for him, if that matters. Thank you.

  1. It is permissible to recite Yizkor today if desired. There is no obligation to recite it with a Minyan – it can be said at home. In any event, one of the most effective means of elevating the soul of a departed loved one is by giving Tzedakah in their merit. And that is something which can be done at any time.
