Living in an RV on Shabbat

Question

I am considering living full time in an RV or a van converted into a home, mostly for economic and family reasons. How can I address this when it comes to Shabbat?

Since this is a type of motor vehicle, how do I deal with the issue of being in a motor vehicle on Shabbat? Would that even be permitted at all?

Would erecting a temporary rope fence around the vehicle be considered an eruv? If I am at a campsite surrounded by gentiles, would it be permitted for me to socialize with them?

If I buy one secondhand that already has an oven, could it be kashered?

  1. Firstly, please accept my Bracha that your financial situation improve drastically very soon.

I actually have no experience or familiarity whatsoever with any of the the laws to do with Shabbat and living in an RV. Subsequently, I would suggest that you speak with Rabbi Dovid Cohen the Rabbi of Gvul Ya’avetz in Brooklyn and one of the foremost authorities in Jewish Law in America today. Rabbi Cohen can be contacted every day at: 718-376-7423 between 3-4 pm (except Tuesdays) and 10-11 pm.
