What is the definition of "Jewishness" as it applies to persons? Is it some sort of hereditary entitlement, like British "nobility?" The American black performer Sammy Davis, Jr. converted to Judaism, but would he be considered "Jewish" as far as Israeli citizenship is concerned? And who decides in particular cases? I am basically most interested to find out what the true requirements are for Israeli citizenship.
