Thought-Activated Electronics
Question
Scientists are currently working on developing thought-activated electronics. They would be able to do things like turning a light on and off just by wishing it that way. Suppose one lived in (or was visiting) a house that had a thought activated light. Such thoughts are difficult to control. What would one do on Shabbat?
Answers
It is a fascinating question and one that I assume will have a practical dimension in the not-so-distant future. When it becomes a practical question, the Halachic authorities will reach practical Halachic conclusions so that we will know what to do. Until then, we will have to wait.
