Wasting Food?

Question

I know that one is forbidden to waste food. What are we supposed to do with food we have that no one in our household is interested in, no acquaintances are interested in, and no food banks will take?

    It seems that there is very little to do with it but dispose of it so that it does not lead to mold or growth of any pathogens where people are found. My mother, of blessed memory, was always careful to feed the birds in our backyard with any leftover bread and the like.
