Jewish History: 7th to 10th Centuries

Question

I have read a lot about what went on throughout different time periods of Jewish history, but I have found nothing that took place between the 7th and 10th centuries, and very little even in those centuries. Why is that? What were Jews up to in that time period?

  1. There was a lot happening! There was the period known as the Gaonic Period, which was replete with Jewish scholarship and growth. There was the Golden Age of Spanish Jewry, which was one of the most prolific eras in Jewish history. For a scholarly look into that time, I would suggest a book called Herald of Destiny by Rabbi Berel Wein. Rabbi Wein is one of the foremost Orthodox Jewish historians in our generation.
