Pet Dog

Question

Dear, Rabbi Shalom. I jus recieved a small puppy for a pet and I would love to name it little one in Yeddish. How would you spell and say Little One in Yiddish and Hebrew? Toda. Marijane Wright

  1. “Little One” in Yiddish would be “Der Kleiner” and in Hebrew “HaKatan” (or in slang “Katanchik”). The word “Kleiner” in Yiddish would be spelt Kuf Lamed Yud Yud Nun Resh and in Hebrew “HaKatan” is Heh Kuf Taf Nun (or “Katanchik” Kuf Taf Nun Tzadik Yud Kuf).
