No Sukkah! What to Do?

Question

What is the view in Jewish law of one who fails to fulfill the mitzvah of sukkah either because they cannot afford a sukkah of their own, or they have no place to build one where they live, or for any other reason they do not have access to a sukkah?

  1. A person who is truly incapable of fulfilling the mitzvah of sitting in the Sukkah is completely exempt and is not held accountable in the Spiritual Realms for not having performed it. It is important to note, however, that a person doesn’t need to have and own his own sukkah. A person is able to fulfill the mitzvah in a communal sukkah, or a neighbor’s or friend’s succah with their permission.
