Name at Bris

Question

Is there a problem if the newborn son of a kohen at his bris was named without a mention of his being a kohen. For example, he was called Eli ben Shlomo not eli ben Shlomo HaCohen.

  1. There is absolutely no problem. The baby is a Kohen by dint of the fact that his father is a Kohen and his name remains the same even if the title haKohen was omitted. In fact, there are early versions of the Mi Shebeirach that is said that do not mention the title of the father at all just the names of the baby and the father.
