Kiddush Hashem

Question

If a non-Jew dies while committing Kiddish Hashem, are they automatically granted the status of a convert to Judaism? For example those that died in the Holocaust because they had Jewish lineage but were not Halachically Jewish. Does their martyrdom elevate their status?

  1. I have never seen a source that suggests that such an action elevates the soul to that of a Jew unless the person was sincerely planning on converting and was not able to do so before they died. What is certain, however, is that the soul of a non-Jew who dies Al Kiddush Hashem is given a very lofty position in the World of Souls.
