Isaiah 3:5 – A Prophecy for Now?

Question

“And the people will oppress one another, every one his fellow and every one his neighbor;
the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the despised to the honorable.” (Isaiah 3:5)

As I think that these verse shows the current situation of the world, because I have seen this happen frequently in many places of the earth nowadays – does Isaiah warn us about the future in this verse or did this situation start in the past and still continue?

  1. While the previous chapter of Isaiah is a description of what will happen in the lead up to the Messianic Era, the simple understanding of the whole of chapter three is that Isaiah is now addressing what will happen in his time. However, there are too many uncanny similarities to our present generation to be able to ignore the connection.
