Holy Spirit

Question

In the Tanakh, there is a concept of the Holy Spirit. For example: “the spirit of God dwelled on David strongly”. Is there the power of the Holy Spirit according to Judaism?
Also, is there the power of the “evil spirit”?

  1. Yes, the Holy Spirit is an integral part of Jewish theology. As you point the Holy Spirit is mentioned on many, many occasions in the Bible. For example, all the prophets were imbued with the Holy Spirit when they received their prophecies. In the same way the Evil Spirit (known as the Evil Inclination in Judaism) is also an integral part of our existence. However, in contradistinction to some other religions good and evil are not two separate entities in an eternal struggle to see who will be victorious. Rather, Judaism teaches that they both emanate from God and they should both be used to help us draw closer to Him.
