Havdalah Candle Holder

Question

Shalom aleichem Rabbi Lauffer.
If one has a havdalah candle holder with the words “borei me’orei ha’eish” written on it in Hebrew, would it be proper or improper to use it as a havdalah candle holder, considering wax from the dripping candle covers the letters and also wine gets on it?
Thanks lot.

  1. I do not see any problem with using the candle holder. If the whole Bracha was written on the candle holder, then, perhaps, there might be a possibility that it should not be used (even then I am not convinced that it would be a problem). But when it is just the words “borei m’orei ha’eish,” I think that it is permissible “lechatchila”.
