If God is not a man, who did Abraham feed while he was in his tent in Genesis?

    Your question is one that is asked by the Rabbis. The Talmud teaches that the three “people” sent to Abraham were, in fact, angels. If so, what exactly did they eat when Abraham gave them food as angels are celestial beings and require no food to exist? The Rabbis explain that they only looked as if they were eating so as to seem to be humans.
