Eating Chametz on Shabbat After Pesach in Israel

Question

If on the Shabbat after Pesach, like what occurred this year in Israel, a Jew living in Israel is offered as a gift from a gentile a chametz food item that is in a sealed package with a hechsher, is he permitted to consume it?

Answers

  1. It would be forbidden to eat the chametz as it is considered “muktzeh.” All chametz is muktzeh under such circumstances since it was forbidden when Yom Tov turned into Shabbat, and it therefore remains forbidden on Shabbat as well.
