  1. A “tish” literally means “table” in Yiddish and is a term generally used in connection with a celebratory meal of Chassidim gathered around their Rabbi (Rebbe) at a table, accompanied with singing and words of Torah. The highlight of the “tish” is when the Rebbe delivers a talk on a Torah subject, after the gathered are in an elevated mood from the food and song. It is a custom that takes place virtually every Shabbat amongst Chassidim.
