Beastiality

Question

Hello, I have some questions I’ve had a hard time finding answers to and I hope you can help. Firstly, why do animals have to be killed when someone was intimate with it?

Second, I’ve heard that the world was destroyed due to beastiality in the past but I haven’t ever heard any sources for that. Is that true? Is there a source for that?

Why was the world destroyed? Couldn’t God just make it physically impossible for beastiality to occur? He can do anything.

If that is true, what does that mean for our world, being that beastiality is something that happens frequently.
Thanks you.

  1. Even though the animal simply behaved in a natural and animalistic fashion, nevertheless, the Rabbis teach that once the animal has been used in such a debased and degenerate fashion it has become corrupted and its presence corrupts the world. That is why both the person and the animal are put to death by the Sanhedrin.

The Midrash, Bereshis Rabbah 26, describes the pre-Flood generation as being the most degenerate and debauched generation ever. Among the many disgusting things that they did was that they actually arranged “marriages” between humans and animals.

God, of course, can do anything and He could have created mankind with no desires whatsoever for bestiality. In truth, your question can be asked about any sexually divergent behavior. However, the Rabbis teach that the desire for sexual activity is not inherently bad. Rather, the sexual desire is something that can be utilized both for the good and for the bad. That means that a person can channel their desire into marrying and establishing a family. Or they can use exactly the same desires to behave in the most degenerate way possible.
