Every Shabbos we hear the words yasher koach being said to the person who gets an aliyah..., for which the reply is Baruch tihiyeh. In actuality the words yasher koach are usually compressed into another word, schyuch (…not sure of the spelling). How exactly would this word be spelled and where did it come from? I am currently studying Jewdism at AS level and we are learning about The oral Torah (Talmud) and the Torah. I am currently doing a question on how the Talud is studied more than the Torah these days. Am I correct in saying that the main reason is becasue expliantions for all the rules are in the Talmud and not in the Torah? Are there any other reasons? Thank you for your time.
