Earliest Mincha Time

On any given day, how do you calculate the earliest time one can daven mincha?

    The calculations are a little complex. The total amount of daylight for each day is calculated and the amount of daylight is then divided into twelve equal “hours” (in the summer the “hours” are longer and in the winter the “hours” are shorter). The twelve hours are then divided into two parts and the end of the sixth “hour” is the middle of the day. In theory that should be the first time that you can daven Mincha, but because the Rabbis were concerned that Mincha might be davened before midday (what is called “chatzos” in the Halacha), they instituted a rule that the first time that Mincha can be davened is a half an hour after midday.
